NO. 19

Love and Wrinkles.

I am blessed you chose me.

Let me start with this, I don’t think a love letter does you justice. You are well beyond the written word for me and always have been.

When we met, close to 24 years ago, you instantly made an impact on me. It wasn’t just your natural beauty, it was more about the way you carried yourself. You were young, just 18 years old, but I could see that you had a maturity well beyond your years. I would come to understand that your early years in life were tough and that had pushed you into responsibility at a very early age.

I simply had never met anyone like you. Amazingly beautiful, very responsible with a plan in place on how you were going to attack life, I knew when I met you that I was going to marry you. There was never a question in my mind.

You see, I know your life wasn’t easy by a long shot. I wanted to be the prince coming to the rescue of my damsel in distress. But, what I didn’t realize is the impact you would have on my life and looking back, I was probably the one who needed to be saved. I was very immature (not much has changed), very irresponsible and in general didn’t care about much in life.

Twenty-two years of marriage later, I can say that meeting you is the best thing that has ever happened to me. You have impacted my life in ways that I couldn’t imagine — so much so that I have a hard time putting into words, but I’m going to give it my best shot.

You are godly, graceful, gentle, honest, loving, trustworthy and giving, just to name a few of your amazing qualities. You hold me accountable. Anyone who knows me knows that this is an impossible task. You are an amazing mother as your love for our kiddos is infectious. You put up with all of my faults (which there are many) and love me in spite of it. You are the hardest working person that I have ever met. You literally are always doing something that in the end benefits our family as a whole. You are selfless and continually put other people before you. That is such an amazing and underrated quality to me as that is a direct reflection of Jesus. And this goes without saying, you are literally the most beautiful person that I have ever met.

With every new wrinkle (which I know you hate), I fall more in love with you every year. To me, those wrinkles represent the love and passion that you have poured into our family for the last 22 years. There is nothing more attractive to me than that. I am blessed that you chose me to spend the rest of your life with. I don’t take it for granted and I am grateful every morning that I wake up and get to spend another day with you. You’re the best.

I love you the most,

Chris
